Fraud Awareness Week Less Than One Month Away
Fraud continues to make headlines every day. Until the economy turns around, this is a topic we need to remain steadfastly focused on. Along with the senior population, people with financial problems are especially at risk and need to know how to protect themselves and their loved ones.
The Coalition has been busy raising funds, planning and scheduling seminars, and arranging speakers for this important and timely event.
These free seminars enable the Coalition to achieve its threefold objectives of raising awareness about the consequences and impact of fraud on society, teaching Idahoans how to recognize fraud and protect themselves from it and encouraging consumers to report fraud to the appropriate authorities.
Most of this year's seminars are being hosted by senior centers and civic groups. The Boise meeting on May 8 is open to the public and everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. Click on Upcoming Events for time and location. Additional seminars are pending in Coeur d'Alene, Rexburg and the Twin Falls area.
Essays have been received from high school seniors throughout the state. They will be reviewed by the scholarship committee and winners will be announced during our event week.
A wonderful DVD outlining various types of fraud has been created for use in our seminars this year. Copies will be available for $1.00 each until the supply runs out.
