Western Idaho Fair 2009

The Fraud Awareness Coalition sponsored a booth at the Western Idaho Fair. From August 21 through August 30 volunteers staffed the booth and distributed bags, brochures and sponsor-donated items to fair-goers. This outreach opportunity provided a chance for members of the Coalition to work shoulder to shoulder with one another.

Coalition members Laura Johnson and Aspen Morrow designed and created decorations for the booth using a ‘CSI' theme. Passersby were intrigued with the giant magnifying glass and chalk outlines on the ground. People stopped to watch the Coalition DVD and visit with booth workers about their own brushes with fraud and identify theft.

Thousands of people attend the Western Idaho Fair each year. Many stopped to pick up pamphlets and request information about who to contact to report fraud. Karen Wright, Coalition member from Blue Cross of Idaho, said, “All that matters is helping one person.”

Coalition sponsor Ricketts and Associates donated a child's bicycle to be raffled off at the fair. The winning ticket was drawn Sunday night, and six-year-old Cooper of Boise was the happy recipient.

Booth workers sported Coalition t-shirts that read, “Go Green! with the Idaho Fraud Awareness Coalition.” In all, around 70 people manned the booth throughout the ten-day event.
